Guide · The earnings graph
Sector roll-ups
Zoomed out, supplier links are added up by sector, one line for each pair of sectors and a ring on a hub for links within a sector. Select a sector to keep its lines while you zoom in.
Between sectors
When the graph is zoomed out, drawing every company's supplier links would be a tangle. Instead each pair of sectors gets one amber line, hub to hub, standing for every supplier link between their companies. The more links, the wider and brighter the line. See dependency strength.
Within a sector
Most supplier links stay inside a sector, for example drug makers supplying drug wholesalers, both in Health Care. Those cannot be drawn hub to hub, so they show as an amber ring on the sector's hub, on the same scale.
Selecting a sector
Select a sector and its lines to other sectors stay drawn however far you zoom in, running off the edge of the view toward the other hubs. Zoom out to see where they go.
The panel lists the sector's links:
- to each other sector, with a count; click one to see the company links behind it;
- within the sector;
- by industry, supplier's industry first, which is often where the real structure is. Companies outside the run appear there by their SIC code; see SIC and GICS.
Companies outside the run
A link to a company the run does not hold still counts, using that company's sector as estimated from its SIC code. See companies outside the run.
